URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS

A urinary tract infection, or UTI, is an infection that can happen anywhere along the urinary tract. It is an infection involving any of the organs or structures of the urinary tract, including the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra.

The most common type of UTI is acute cystitis often referred to as a bladder infection.

CAUSES

The main causal agent is Escherichia coli Infection-bacterial usually from the anus Fungal, thrush.Unhygienic condition and bad personal hygiene.
1. Pregnancy.
2. Diabetes.
3. Kidneys diseases.
4. Vigorous sexual activity.
5. Prostate diseases.
6. Surgery & catheterization.
7. Low immunity.
8. Obstruction to flow of urine.
9. Anal intercourse (in males) It can also be a part of food allergy.

Women tend to get them more often because their urethra is shorter and closer to the anus than in men. Because of this, women are more likely to get an infection after sexual activity or when using a diaphragm for birth control. Menopause also increases the risk of a UTI.

SYMPTOMS

DO'S AND DON'TS

1. Lifestyle changes may help prevent some UTIs.
